From music to social media, there are countless apps out there for your smartphone. It can be overwhelming! As you may already know, there are many awesome car-related apps you can get…you may even already have a few. Here are 5 must-have apps that will help you drive smarter and safer, and hopefully make your time spent behind the wheel more enjoyable.
The Urgent.ly App is particularly useful for drivers who don’t have roadside assistance covered through their insurance provider and aren’t members of AAA or other similar roadside assistance clubs. When you are in need of help, you can use the app to find the closest auto assistance for flat tires, just starts, towing, and more. The app allows you to track how long it will take for help you arrive. The best part is you only pay for the services after they are preformed, and there is no monthly enrollment fee to use this app.
Waze differs from other car apps because it is community driven. The app allowers users from all over the world to report accidents, police traps, construction, traffic jams and more to assist with traffic and navigation. Maps within the Waze app get updated immediately when sudden changes or disruptions to your route occur. The app has other fun features too including the ability to report gas prices and options to connect with others in the Waze community.
3. iOnRoad Personal Driving Assistant
Your smart phone becomes a personal driving assistant with the iOnRoad App! The app integrates with the camera on your smartphone to monitor things like your distance from vehicles ahead and where you leave your car. You can set up both audio and visual alerts to notify you if you begin to veer off the road, go too fast, or get too close to another vehicle. There’s also a “black box” feature that can act as a dash cam while you drive. All these features (and more) are customizable to your personal preference – you can set up your personalized “dashboard” and pick and choose which features you’d like to use.
Honk is another car-finding app that also has a handy parking meter timing. The App will also show you helpful locations of nearby gas stations, ATM machines, and more. We really like this App in particular because of the parking meter timer. The timer displays right on your smart phone’s home screen, so you don’t have to worry about closing in and out of the app to keep checking how much time is left on your meter. We also like that it combines the car-finding feature with the parking meter timer, all in one handy app!
Drinking and driving is never a smart decision, and it’s always better to be safe than sorry when deciding whether or not to get behind the wheel. Breathometer is a wireless smartphone breathalyzer that connects to an app on your smartphone via bluetooth to accurately measure your blood alcohol levels and help you make informed, dependable decisions when deciding to get behind the wheel.
